Living It Up

May 6th, 2022

Earlier this week I had the opportunity to interview a couple for an upcoming episode of the My Retirement Clarity Podcast.

Joe and Suzanne  have been clients for about 10 years and they’ve been retired about that long as well. They retired earlier than most folks do and they have some great experiences in retirement so far. The most recent was the birth of their very first grandchild. Like most first time grandparents, they are thrilled and these first few weeks have been an experience they will cherish forever!

One of the reasons I asked them to be a guest on the show is because of the community they recently moved to. The neighborhood is an over 55 active community and they are having a blast. We discuss the things this community has to offer and some of the great experiences they have had while living there. They have made great friends there and have really settled in and love it.

This retirement community concept has really taken off in recent years and more folks are considering it. I’ve actually had 3 or 4 other couple clients make the move to similar communities in different places.  At some point, I will likely have them on to share their experiences as well.

Housing in retirement is such a hot topic right now, I thought it would be a great time to dig a little deeper into the options that are available. (In fact, Episode 65 of the My Retirement Clarity podcast is all about common housing questions for retirees. Check it out if you haven’t already)

Of course, there is no one size fits all solution so it’s important to learn from the experiences of others. I talked to another client couple yesterday that has agreed to be on a future show and share their experiences from a cross country trip they are taking this summer. These folks are going to some great locations, all here in the U.S. and I hope it will inspire you to get out and enjoy this great country.

If you have some great retirement experiences that you’d like to discuss on the podcast (travel, your community, or just have a great story to tell) please send an email to clients@jlperkinswealth.com and let us know. I’ll reach back out and we can discuss in more detail.

My goal is to try to help you tune out the noise of the day and equip and inspire you to have the best retirement you can possibly have!
